Research in Professor Nusbaum's laboratory is focused on questions around language use and communication, the role of sleep in consolidation of learning, sensorimotor control of action, decision making, and perceptual learning and skill acquisition. His lab uses computational and dynamical systems models of neural systems, they develop analysis workflow for neuroimaging, analyze patterns of language use, and use computational neuroscience methods in decoding neural and behavioral response patterns. Their research questions range from understanding mechanisms in economic decision making including neuroforecasting and decision biases, neural representation of sound patterns and the role of attention, understanding mechanisms of intentional action and consciousness, sensorimotor learning of speech and complex visual attention tasks.
